Sapphires, although widely known, have only recently entered the limelight due to the rising interest in ethically sourced gems as well as its range of colors and durability. It being the second hardest naturally occurring gemstone opens it up to many uses even venturing outside of the world of showy gemstones, a non-exhaustive list of its uses includes being a main piece in highly durable windows, wristwatch components and electronic wafers.

Sapphires are found in many places including Madagascar, Sri Lanka, Songea, Australia and the United States. Its colors are just as, if not more, versatile than its places of origin, including every color, even black, depending entirely on its place of origin. Also dependent on its place of origin is the ability to possess color changing abilities, the most common places to find color changing sapphires being the mines in or around Helena, Montana in the United States. While it is possible to find color changing stones in other mines, the stones capable of it are usually overlooked in the name of heat treating as the treatment destroys the ability to color change. Due to specifics of each stone, some sapphires can be heat treated in order to create a more saturated color and until recently the process yielded the most sought-after color, that being the dark blue that is often attributed to the precious gem. Not only do they come in every color, but they can also have multiple colors included in one stone, if you're lucky enough, known as parti-colors. Parti-color sapphires are most commonly found in Australia.

This stone in particular came from the Eldorado Bar outside of Helena Montana from the Blazengems claim.
